M.A.K.S, Incorporated offers premium custom electronic controls design and manufacturing services. This proximity lock reader incorporates an RFID reader to provide keyless entry into hotel guest rooms and facilities. The lock reader was developed for our customer in the access control industry. It uses MIFARE technology and features a tamperproof design, three year battery life, and operates with a completely sealed contactless reader for high security applications. The system is equipped with a low battery indicator and retains programming and audit history during battery replacement. We designed the electronic hardware, PCB layout and embedded software for integration with the physical locking mechanism as specified by the customer.

The PCB was produced with SMT assembly. Selective soldering was used as needed for thru hole components. After assembly, components were protected with conformal coating to ensure the lock reader could stand up to the harsh environments seen in the hospitality industry. The finished PCB is 1.355" in diameter and .062" thick and was thoroughly tested for functionality before release to the customer.
